Our first two Seafood Dinners were tremendous. We served large crowds who enjoyed every morsel. There are so many people to thank for all their hard work that it is difficult to know where to begin and end. Therefore, thanks to all of you, especially the coordinators of this event. The Tomato Festival Committee and Knights of Columbus sponsor our Seafood Dinners and will host our final Seafood Dinner on March 9, 2013. Please join us tomorrow night for a delicious meal, scrumptious desserts, and terrific company.
LEAP testing for fourth and eighth grades will be held on March 19, 2013, and April 8-9, 2013. LEAP testing is for those students who will be attending a public school in 2013-14. Please call the St. Bernard Public School Board office to register your child for the LEAP test if you are sending them to a public school in 2013-14 and they will be in the fifth and ninth grade next year. The St. Bernard Public School Board telephone number is 301-2000. The St. Bernard Public School Website is www.stbernard.k12.la.us.
On March 18 and 19, 2013, the Knights of Columbus Rummel Council 5747 and the Ladies Auxiliary will host their Annual St. Joseph Altar on Paris Road. They are asking us to assist with the preparation of nonmeat dishes such as artichoke, potato, green bean, cauliflower and broccoli casseroles. We have aluminum pans in the office for your use. Please contact Madilyn Saavedra at 277-1026 if you need more information. The altar will be open March 18 from noon to 6:00 p.m. for viewing and March 19 from noon to 7:00 p.m. for viewing and serving.
Please remember that the weekend (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) of March 21, 22, 23, 24, 2013, is the Knights of Columbus Crawfish Festival. The Knights have been extremely kind and generous to us over the last few years. They do a great deal for us and others in this community. Please support the Crawfish Festival.
On Thursday, March 28, 2013, our Drama Students will perform in their first production entitled Shadows of the Cross. Please join us in the gym for 2:00 p.m. for this very moving play based on the last few days of Christ’s suffering.
Students in first through eighth grade will take the Terra Nova Achievement Test beginning on Monday, April 15, 2013 through Monday, April 22, 2013 (fourth grade may need an additional morning due to the writing component on their test). Please be sure that the students have a good night’s sleep, a delicious breakfast, and arrive on time. Students who arrive after testing begins will not be allowed to enter the classroom until that segment of the test is completed. These tests are used for placement in special classes, admission to Catholic High Schools, evaluation of instruction, and the comparison of student learning from one year to the next. It is imperative that your child be here in a timely fashion on these days.
